About Rick Collins, CSCS:

Rick Collins, JD, CSCS, is a celebrated personality in the bodybuilding, fitness and nutritional supplements industry. He has degrees in psychology and law and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (National Strength and Conditioning Association).

The monthly legal columnist for the internationally circulated Muscular Development magazine and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Muscle & Fitness magazine, he is a principal in the New York law firm of Collins, McDonald & Gann, P.C. and legal advisor to the International Federation of Bodybuilders and the International Society of Sports Nutrition.

Rick achieved true Alpha Male status not by birth but by sheer determination and hard work, dedicating himself to the task of building a powerful physique first with martial arts and then with progressive resistance training. His self-engineered physical transformation brought him employment as a health club instructor, certified personal trainer, and even years of work as a nightclub bouncer on Long Island’s south shore. His remarkable confidence was also evident in his academic pursuits; he earned a full scholarship to Hofstra School of Law, where he served on the Law Review.

Rick’s successes were not untouched by adversity. He suffered the loss of his father at an early age; his devotion to health and fitness helped him navigate the waters of his adolescence. A passenger in a tragic car crash that killed two young men, he suffered injuries including a broken neck and back. Told he could never resume resistance training, he defied his doctors and went on to win awards in competitive amateur bodybuilding and bench pressing his 225-pound bodyweight for 34 repetitions.

After graduation from law school, he sought employment as a crime-fighting prosecutor and served in that capacity for five years before venturing into the private sector. His practice and accomplished career have been profiled in diverse periodicals, and he has been interviewed on national television talk shows, in news radio interviews and by countless publications including The New York Times and the Washington Post.

Meanwhile, he has consistently sought new challenges to conquer. While practicing law full-time and providing for a family, he wrote Legal Muscle, the definitive book on performance-enhancing substances and the law. He even pursued a long-held dream by braving the forbidding terrain of the working actor, scoring film roles and joining the Screen Actors Guild.

Throughout his endeavors, he has maintained his commitment to health and fitness by applying the knowledge he has acquired over his 30 years in the trenches of America’s gyms.

Rick is living proof of his belief that force of will can render the impossible possible.
